DescriptionSALARY: $53.81 - $65.41 / Hour

THE POSITION: Under direction, is responsible for technical work examining building plans for compliance with building code and zoning regulations or participates in and is in charge of varied and difficult professional engineering work of the more advanced level including research and design of engineering projects; and performs other work as required.
Representative DutiesThe following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of the position's essential duties. They are descriptive, not limiting.
Essential Duties: Develops and/or checks plans for major civil engineering and building construction projects, including supervision in the drawing of plans, writing specifications, making preliminary construction plan layouts; makes a variety of decisions requiring technical and professional knowledge of engineering principles, methods and techniques; and inspects construction work in progress and on completion. Responds to inquiries from the public concerning various building code and zoning regulations.

- Graduation from a recognized college with a degree in civil engineering; AND
- Three (3) years of responsible professional civil engineering experience including professional experience in municipal public works or building construction activities; or an equivalent combination of training Performing specialized and more complex engineering functions; AND
- Experience, which provides the capabilities to perform the described duties.
- Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers is required.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE: - Experience in land development within civil engineering is strongly preferred.
Examination (Weighted: 100%) ORAL APPRAISAL INTERVIEW (Weighted 100%): May 1 st , 2026 (Tentative) An appraisal will be made of the applicant's experience, education, training, certification, knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal qualifications for the position. A minimum passing score of 70% is required.

Salary:
$111,924.80 - $136,056.96 Annually
