Water Department - Engineering, Distribution Division Location: 4800 E. 63rd St. Salary Range: $7,268-$10,902 per month
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. * Telework available one day per pay period after the initial probationary period Application Deadline: May 21, 2026
Review and approve completed plans, specifications, drawings, and estimates.
Lead and coordinate project teams by reviewing vouchers and supporting field data for partial payments for work completed.
Approve payments in accordance with contractual requirements.
Prepare specifications for materials and products and perform necessary research for satisfactory substitutes.
Investigate material failures.
Inspect construction work in progress to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
Interpret plans and specifications for inspectors and contractors.
Oversee the planning, design, and construction of Capital Improvement Projects, as well as the maintenance of the current infrastructure of the KCMO Water Services Department.
Work with the Operations and Maintenance Division, developers, other City departments, and agencies to meet codes, guidelines, and required regulations.
Oversee schedules, budgets, and project status reports for Water Distribution Engineering Division projects.
Assign and oversee project personnel to specific phases or aspects of projects.
Coordinate activities to establish and improve meaningful divisional preventative maintenance work orders.
Implement an effective predictive maintenance program for the Department.
Directly supervise 8-12 employees.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

Qualifications
REQUIRES:
4 years of progressively responsible experience as a Registered Engineer
Within 6 months of hire date, must be registered as a Professional Engineer with MO Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects.
