Public Works Department, Operations Division Pay Range: $22.61-$34.48 per hour
Work Location: 4721 Coal Mine Road
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

What you'll do
- Inspect City sidewalk, driveway, and curb improvement projects to ensure construction meets KCMO standards and specifications, helping protect public safety and City assets.
- Oversee construction activities on job sites from start to finish, monitoring contractor performance and directing corrections when work does not meet requirements.
- Review warranties and project documentation to reduce liability and ensure long-term quality of completed work.
- Answer contractor questions regarding City standards, specifications, and project manuals to support efficient and compliant project delivery.
- Maintain field notes and assist with surveying documentation, including lines, angles, distances, benchmarks, and monuments, and prepare special reports as required.
- Respond to public inquiries regarding project status, compliance, and impacts, and perform snow removal on a residential route during winter months.

- Contractors address issues promptly, reducing rework and delays.
- Field notes, reports, and documentation are accurate, complete, and timely.

REQUIRES - High school graduation.
- Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
