Description
POSITION SUMMARYThis job announcement will be used for multiple year-round Support Staff openings (part-time) This is a temporary part-time position with a 32-Hour cap per week in accordance with City of Fort Lauderdale Policy and Standards Manual. This position is At-Will and is not covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement or the Personnel Rules. These positions may involve assignments in any of the City Departments - administrative, research, clerical, recreation, public service, maintenance, fiscal management, information technology, community development etc. The employee is compensated on an hourly basis, as the services are needed. A temporary assignment can end at any time depending on the hiring department's needs.
This position shall remain open until a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Perform administrative tasks including calendar management, electronic and hardcopy record-keeping, internal and external communications, document/data tracking, and composing memoranda and spreadsheets.
- Provide general office support in accordance with the facility’s needs and requirements.
- Depending on experience and training, additional duties may include supervising entry-level employees.
- Assist with other duties as required, contributing to the overall functioning of professional government offices.
JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENTJob Requirements:- High school Diploma or G.E.D.
- Depending on assignment, qualifications vary. Some positions may require a higher level of education or previous work experience which will be evidenced by copies of relevant education certificates or previous work history.
- Prior administrative experience with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and general office procedures.
- Administrative experience with calendar management, electronic and hardcopy record keeping, internal and external communications, document/data tracking, composition of memoranda, spreadsheets and all other duties associated with the day-to-day operation of professional government offices highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills are essential, both oral and written, to interact effectively at all levels within the organization.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying duties depending on assigned events and locations.
- Must be available to work shifts as determined by department heads, including during emergencies or special events.
As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads. Work Environment: Work environments will vary based on the assigned facility. Employees will receive training on standard operating procedures, and supervision is minimal once the duties are mastered.
This is a part time temporary non-benefited position.
