The Team Member We Are Looking for Will:
Under general direction, direct the nursing services of an autonomous County Medical Center which provides inpatient and outpatient services.

MANAGEMENT APPRAISAL OF PERFORMANCE PLAN (MAPP):
This position is subject to the provisions of the Management Appraisal of Performance Plan (MAPP). Initial salary placement and subsequent salary adjustments will be made in accordance with MAPP guidelines and regulations.

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
Three (3) years of experience at the level of Clinical Nursing Director* directing the nursing staff of a large hospital** or a large correctional institution/s*** delivering complex medical service/s or an equivalent assignment.****

A master's degree in nursing or administration ***** will be accepted for one (1) year of the required experience in directing nursing staff.

-AND-
A current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

-AND-

A current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program certification issued by the American Heart Association.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Additional credit will be given to applicants who possess the following desirable qualifications:

Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS INFORMATION:
*For this examination, Clinical Nursing Director is defined as: Administering multiple major programs or organizational areas with full responsibility for planning, organizing, staffing, budgeting, directing, and controlling the accomplishment of both short and long-term nursing service objectives.
You may still qualify even if your job title isn’t exactly the same as the ones listed. What matters is that your experience is at a similar level - meaning your job involves similar responsibilities, requires comparable skills and knowledge, and takes place within a similar organizational structure. Please provide a clear explanation of your experience to demonstrate that it is at the appropriate level.

**A large hospital is defined as a hospital of 300 or more licensed beds .

***A large correctional institution(s) is defined as an institution/facility that has an inpatient treatment center of 150 or more licensed beds .

****Complex medical services include, but are not limited to, emergency, medical, surgical, critical, perioperative, perinatal, psychiatric and outpatient services. An equivalent assignment may include, but is not limited to, a healthcare network, or outpatient/ambulatory care centers, or comprehensive health centers offering multiple ambulatory care services.

NOTE: Applicants claiming experience in a state other than California must provide their Registered Nurse license number from that state on the application at the time of filing. Out-of-State experience provided on the application without the required license number will not be considered.

*****To receive credit for your education, include a legible copy of all relevant official documents, including your diploma, transcript, or letter/certificate from an accredited institution. The document should show the date the degree was conferred and be in English. If not in English, then translation is required. International degrees must be evaluated for equivalency to U.S. standards if not listed in the International Handbook of Universities or World Higher Education Database. Applicants claiming such experience in County service must present written proof of such experience by submitting Out-of-Class Bonus verification, Additional Responsibility Bonus verification, Temporary Assignment bonuses (OCB, ARB, TAB), or performance evaluations, at the time of filing. Verification of Experience letters will not be accepted.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This assessment type will evaluate the education, training, experience, and desirable qualifications you list on your application and supplemental questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system. This assessment is worth 100% of your total score. The passing score for the assessment is 70%.

ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION:
We process applications as we receive them. If you pass the assessment, we will place you on a list for 12 months. Hiring managers within DHS will use this list to fill vacancies as they become available.

Successful applicants that were added to the eligible register may not apply for this examination for twelve (12) months following the date of being placed on the eligible register. Applications received before expiration from the eligible register will be rejected.

Applicants who did not meet the requirements may reapply after 30 days of their most recent applicatio n.

AVAILABLE SHIFTS:
Appointees may be required to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
