The Public Works Director serves as a key executive leader responsible for the planning, direction, and oversight of all Public Works operations, services, and capital programs. Reporting to the City Manager, this position provides strategic leadership for the City's infrastructure systems and ensures the effective delivery of essential public services that support the community's quality of life.
The Director oversees a broad portfolio of responsibilities, including engineering, maintenance, sanitation, water system operations and transit. This role requires the ability to balance day-to-day operational demands with long-range planning initiatives, ensuring that the aging infrastructure is maintained, enhanced, and positioned to meet future community needs. The City of Simi Valley is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and forward-thinking leader to serve as its next Public Works Director. The ideal candidate is an accomplished municipal public works executive with a strong background in civil engineering, infrastructure management, water and sanitation operations and organizational leadership, as well as a demonstrated commitment to public service excellence.
The annual salary range for the Public Works Director position is $222,417 – $275,374; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
