Program Manager, Capital Improvement

Purpose:

Under general direction, this position manages the activities and personnel engaged in planning, developing, and monitoring the City’s Capital Improvement Program.

The Transportation and Public Works (TPW) Project Delivery Division (PDD) is responsible for leading implementation of projects for several local mobility programs in TPW's portfolio including Bikeways, Vision Zero/Safety, Transit Enhancement, Sidewalks and Urban Trails, Systems Development, Safe Routes to School, and Speed Management.

The CIPM, will deliver a wide range of transportation-related Capital Projects using local Mobility Bond funds as well as state and federal funds. The Program Manager will lead and provide strategic direction to multiple work teams to successfully deliver high-need, time-critical projects in service to TPW’s multi modal safety and mobility goals.

If the position you are applying for has the ability/opportunity to telework, we offer a hybrid schedule of minimum 60% in office.

Driving with the City:

This position requires a Valid Class “C” Driver’s License. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requirement. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

Essential Employee:

This position is considered an “Essential” role and is essential to the operations of the City based on the preparation, response, and recovery phase of extraordinary situations or emergency conditions. As an employee that has been designated as “Essential” the expectation will be to work at a designated work site during declared extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to serve the community.

This position is considered “Essential” to maintain critical operations and core services. Essential Employees during emergencies play a role in ensuring the public health, safety, and welfare of our community and ensuring City operations continue.
