THIS POSITION IS CATEGORICALLY FUNDED - POSITION CONTINGENT UPON CONTINUED FUNDING AND BOARD APPROVAL
BASIC FUNCTION :
Under the direction of the area administrator, Student Success Support Program ( SSSP ) Specialist is responsible for assisting in support related programs, components and activities; assists in the planning, coordination, implementation and delivery of support programs and services associated with the college plans, including the college Student Success and Support Program ( SSSP ) plan; assists in planning and coordinating of SSSP MIS reporting, follow-up and retention activities for at-risk students including those on probation and dismissal. Essential Duties Summary
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : - Performs support functions for student success and support programs; prepares reports and other documents.
- Interprets and implements District/College policies and procedures related to student success and equity and student services programs, including Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 ( FERPA ).
- Provide technical assistance with the Early Alert Program.
- Monitors retention programs and referral services and coordinates follow up services for students.
- Coordinates and provides student success trainings; may organize and participate in outreach efforts.
- Maintains College Student Success and Equity databases; analyzes and produces detailed reports; assists in MIS data reporting.
- Monitor budgets and perform purchasing functions.
- Assists in the development of web pages and online programs for SSSP Core services.
- Works closely with students, staff, faculty, and the public to implement goals and objectives of assigned areas/programs; resolves issues and recommends solutions related to student success.
- May assist with program planning, including serving as a liaison to advisory committees or other outside agencies.
- Provides support for assigned college SSSP Plan activities, which may include required steps for priority enrollment, follow up and retention services, and serving on college committees related to student success.
- Assists in conducting program review and strategic planning for the SSSP programs.
- Participates in recommending and monitoring systems to provide and track support services to new students.
- Provide student support related services training, including but not limited to follow-up and retention data collection processes.
- Attends college, district, and departmental meetings in an effort to assist in ensuring coordination of support services, and follow-up activities.
- Assists in ensuring compliance with and implementation of student services related regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains educational planning regulatory database in order to assist counseling and student services faculty and staff.
- Assist in gathering and maintaining data and statistical information in an effort to ensure appropriate services are provided to students in compliance with district and state regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Serves as college liaison with District Educational Services to update College Educational Requirements, CSU General Education Breadth and I.G.E.T.C. submissions.
- Serves as liaison to CSU for ADT (SB 1440), or other CSU approved statewide transfer program communication.
- Develop and implement SSSP electronic communication campaign & intervention notifications to target SSSP students.
- Prepares announcements, newsletters, and other forms of communication regarding SSSP related events, activities, programs and initiatives for dissemination to college personnel and students.
- Communicates with and advises students to move them through the Steps to Success and core services of SSSP plan.
- May develop, coordinate and conduct transition workshops and activities for entering students coming directly from high school.
- Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE OF: - Federal, State and Community College rules and regulations governing Student Success initiatives.
- Electronic data processing systems for reporting purposes.
- PowerPoint to develop retention reports and presentations.
- Customer service delivery methods.
- Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
ABILITY TO: - Operate a computer and related software to process academic standing, student retention and completion rates.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Required Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Any combination equivalent to: a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and two years of experience in student services on a college campus or in a community agency that provides comparable services to students, or diverse community members.
