Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Telework available 1 day per week after completion of 6-month probationary period

What you'll do
- Responds to walk-in, phone, and e-mail questions related to the building and zoning codes and other inquiries related to City Planning and Development regulations and procedures, helping customers get accurate information quickly so projects stay on track.
- Reviews scope of work requests to ensure submissions are clear and aligned with requirements, helping reduce delays in permitting.
- Refers customers to appropriate resources within City Planning and Development or to outside departments, improving resolution time and customer experience.
- Assists citizens in filing online applications, removing barriers to access and supporting timely processing of permits.
- Directs residents to the appropriate resources available on the City's official website, www.kcmo.gov, helping them find answers independently and efficiently.

REQUIRES:- An accredited Bachelor's degree in economics, sociology, multi-disciplinary social science or urban affairs, urban planning, public or business administration, engineering, or architecture;
- OR high school graduation and 4 years of professional experience in economic or community development work, planning, building codes administration, engineering, architecture, or neighborhood development programs.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with the International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC), as well as fluency in multiple languages.
