HERE. There is a position available in the Colusa County Probation Department that can be filled at any level, depending on the qualifications of the successful applicant. This recruitment will be used to fill a current vacancy and establish an eligibility list to fill other potential openings without reposting. What's this Job All About? This position is responsible for processing court-related case files and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of legal documentation. Duties include updating the case management system with court notes and dispositions; formatting, proofreading, and preparing letters, reports, petitions, and other documents for court filing; and maintaining statistical data for reporting to the State of California.
The incumbent will collaborate with a variety of County departments and justice system partners, including the District Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Office, Behavioral Health Services, and the Superior Court. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all court documents are accurate, complete, and filed with the court in a timely manner.

Legal Specialist II Receives direction from management and supervisory staff. May exercises technical and functional supervision over secretarial and clerical staff.
QualificationsAny combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required Knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Legal Specialist I Experience: One year of increasingly responsible legal secretarial experience.
or
Two years of responsible office and administrative support work, including experience in a position requiring knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
Training: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Specialized legal secretarial training is highly desirable.
Legal Specialist II Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible legal secretarial experience.
Training: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized legal secretarial training.
Supplemental Information Salary information ( based on 37.5-hour Workweek) : Legal Specialist I: $3,305 - $5,424 per month
Legal Specialist II: $3,649 - $5,989 per month The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.Colusa County offers an excellent benefit package.
