Minimum Qualifications: Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Communications, Social Sciences, Business, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related field and 1 year experience in community development, communications, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Position Description: Under general supervision, coordinates and develops communications that assist with the activities and operations of Neighborhood Engagement and works with neighborhood associations, other city departments, and outside agencies to facilitate the department's work. Serves in a critical role in creating dialogue, information sharing, partnership, and action with neighborhood residents, leaders & organizations to improve the quality of life for the residents of the City of Waco.
Essential Functions: - Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Serves as the primary liaison between neighborhood organizations, community members, and City departments to build relationships, share information, and facilitate communication.
- Cultivates and maintains partnerships with neighborhood associations, community organizations, elected officials, and other stakeholders.
- Meets with neighborhood residents, leaders, and community groups to identify concerns, coordinate solutions, and support community initiatives.
- Represents Neighborhood Engagement at neighborhood meetings, community events, and other public functions, including evenings, weekends and occassional holidays as needed.
- Provides information and guidance regarding City programs, services, policies, and initiatives to residents, neighborhood organizations, and City staff as needed; including the Neighborhood Grant Program, City Academy, and Faith Leaders, as needed.
- Partners with City departments to coordinate responses to neighborhood issues, projects, and emerging community needs.
- Maintains neighborhood association records, contact databases, and engagement metrics; develops assessment tools and prepares communications, including the department's weekly e-newsletter.
- Assists with department programs, events, outreach initiatives, and the planning and delivery of Waco City Academy.
- Monitors social media and assists with distributing neighborhood engagement information through City communication channels.
- Supports department operations by completing assigned training, following City policies and procedures, and promoting a safe work environment.
- May be required to respond after hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or during departmental or City-wide emergencies.
- Operates a city or personal vehicle to support Neighborhood Engagement functions, including traveling to partner locations; Transports materials, supplies, or personnel for meetings, events, and other activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, and City staff, maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information
