Position DescriptionA Medical Research Tech III provides support in an assigned research laboratory, conducting specified phases of research projects. You will work without supervision, manage lab supplies, analyze data, maintain accurate experimental records, and help write manuscripts for publication. Work may be required to be done independently, and designated research projects are required. Work is performed under usual laboratory conditions. Some hazards may be present due to use of radioactive, carcinogenic or other potentially harmful substances. May instruct or direct work of subordinate laboratory personnel.
Major/Essential Functions- Cell culture work.
- Maintain lab equipment.
- Person-specific lab duties (making buffers, aliquoting reagents, calibrating pH meter).
- Prepares basic solutions.
- Keeps lab and equipment clean.
- Prepares and maintains lab notebooks.
- Help plan and coordinate collaborative projects.
- Helps maintain lab inventory.
- Assists in designing experiments.
- Assists with lab infrastructure.
- Assists in protocol development.
- Develops protocols for in vitro studies.
- Reads current literature.
- Attends weekly lab meetings.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in one of the sciences, or equivalent combination (four (4) years) of job-related experience and college education. Experience may be substituted for college education on a year for year basis.
