Purpose:

Austin Equity and Inclusion is hiring a Program Coordinator within the Human Rights Division.

This position will play a key role in advancing the City's human rights priorities by coordinating initiatives, fostering partnerships, and supporting implementation of recommendations identified through the City's Human Rights Impact Assessment. The successful candidate will collaborate across City departments and with community partners to develop and implement programs that address systemic barriers and improve outcomes for historically underserved communities.

The ideal candidate is an organized and collaborative professional with experience managing projects, engaging diverse stakeholders, analyzing information to support strategic decision-making, and translating community input into actionable programs and policies. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful systems change by advancing equity and protecting the human rights of all Austin residents.

About the Department:

This role is housed within Austin Equity and Inclusion - Human Rights Division. Austin is committed to becoming the most livable city for all identities by fostering a culture of inclusivity and systemic change. This commitment is reflected in the City’s efforts to improve the quality of life for all Austinites.

Austin Equity and Inclusion (AEI) has 3 divisions within its office: Human Rights Division, Equity Division and Civil Rights division. The mission of Austin Equity and Inclusion is to transform systems to increase access, remove barriers to opportunity, address discrimination, and foster a community where all identities are respected. AEI ensures full compliance with applicable state and federal mandates, including local city ordinances, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. AEI also oversees racial equity work, immigrant affairs, veterans, fair housing, equal employment, fair chance hiring, ADA-title II, Title VI, public accommodation, CROWN Act and tenants’ right to organize.

Salary: $52,550 to $61,870 annually

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
