Description
Position: Electric Lineman A & B FLSA: Non-Exempt Department: Utilities - Electric Schedule: 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday - Thursday; position subject to standby and after hours/overtime. Reports To: Electric Distribution Foreman Positions Supervised: Apprentice Lineman and Lineman Helper
Job Summary
Electric Lineman A & B will perform work related to the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of overhead and underground electric systems.
Roles & Responsibilities
Installs, maintains, and removes poles including framing, hardware, guys, and other related materials.
Installs, maintains, and removes transformers, capacitors, reclosers, regulators, switchers, conductors, and other electric utility equipment.
Installs, maintains, and removes underground conductors, pad-mounted transformers, conduits, vaults, elbows, and other underground electric utility equipment.
Operates various types of equipment including forklift, trencher, skid loader, backhoe, mini-excavator, backyard machine, bucket truck, and digger derrick.
Responds to, troubleshoots, and repairs overhead and underground customer outages and complaints.
Assists with the leading and training of Lineman Helpers and Apprentice Linemen.
Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advanced knowledge of the methods and techniques used in the operation, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a 15kV electric utility system.
Ability to perform pole, bucket, and vault rescue in emergency situations.
Ability to read and interpret reports, records, charts, tables, blueprints, maps, gauges, dials, meters, technical handbooks, and local, state, and federal regulations.
Regular, reliable, and punctual levels of attendance are essential job functions and expectations of this position.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and poles up to 60 feet and climb in and out of workplace equipment.
Must be able to crawl, reach, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, and crouch when performing job duties.
Required to be able to carry, balance, lift, push, pull, and reach equipment and material weighing up to 80 pounds.
Hearing and vision must be satisfactory to the degree that duties may be performed effectively and safely.
Environmental Conditions
Majority of work is performed outdoors in all types of weather.
Work in confined areas may be necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent AND five years of overhead and underground electric utility system experience.
Must be a lineman certified to work with voltages up to 15kV.
Must have a valid Texas Class A CDL Driver's License.
Must live within 20 miles of the Parker County Courthouse due to emergency and stand-by requirements. Relocation is required within 180 days of employment if outside the 20-mile radius.
