The Position:

Working with the Supervisor and the District 2 staff, the Legislative Aide will play a key role in developing, analyzing, and implementing policies and initiatives related to housing, public health, immigration, transit, and other issue areas. Expertise in housing, public health, immigration, and transit matters, including policies, will be instrumental in addressing the unique challenges and opportunities in San Mateo County District 2. Key responsibilities will include:

 

 

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate for this position will have at least three years of direct experience working for a county or state legislator or comparable experience in a government or policy-making setting.

The position/office is based primarily in Redwood City and secondarily in San Mateo. The ideal candidate will be willing and able to travel throughout the district and the county. Meeting constituents, stakeholders, and community partners throughout the district is an essential responsibility of this position.

The selection process for this position will consist of an application screening and a panel interview, which may include a pre-interview exercise. 

Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations, or a screening committee may select those applicants whose education and/or experience appear to best meet the needs of the position based solely on the information provided in the application documents.  

All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination.  Only the most highly qualified candidates, as determined by the initial screening process, will be invited to participate in the interview selection process.

Those selected to participate in the interview process will be notified of the date, time and place of the subsequent phases of the selection process. Interviews will be conducted in San Mateo County, California and applicants must participate at their own expense.
