Description
The JobInnovation and Technology Department (ITD) is seeking an experienced
Enterprise Systems Administrator* to support and maintain the County's enterprise Microsoft infrastructure. This position is responsible for administering, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing critical systems that support County operations across multiple departments.
Essential duties may include:
- Administer and maintain enterprise Microsoft server environments.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex server and infrastructure issues.
- Manage both physical and virtual Windows Servers environments.
- Implement system upgrades, patches, and security enhancements.
- Collaborate with technical teams to support enterprise infrastructure projects and technology initiatives.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Incumbent must successfully complete a background investigation (fingerprinting and work history/education check) in addition to a job-related physical exam, including a drug test.
Availability: Incumbents must be available to work different shifts, which includes day, swing, rotating, weekends, and holidays. The County pays an hourly differential for those employees working night shifts.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.
Minimum Requirements Candidates MUST meet the required experience and required education in order to qualify. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of work experience, within the past five (5) years, performing systems administration at the enterprise-level. Experience must include at least two (2) of the following:
- Administration of Microsoft technologies
- Experience with scripting administrative tasks using MS PowerShell or equivalence
- Administration of enterprise compliance and patch management software for servers and endpoints
- Installation, configuration, and administration of Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, Exchange, Hyper-V, SharePoint, or System Center Configuration Manager
- Analyzation of complex Microsoft technologies to troubleshoot problems and make improvements
- Administration of p hysical and virtual windows servers utilizing Microsoft Server Operating Systems
-AND- REQUIRED EDUCATION: Thirty (30) semester/(45 quarter) units of completed, post high-school coursework from an accredited university or technical school in Computer Information Systems, Business/Public Administration, or a closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application unless a degree in one of the listed fields has been conferred.
SUBSTITUTION FOR EDUCATION: An additional year of qualifying experience may substitute for the required education.
NOTE ON INTERNATIONAL DEGREES: Qualifying degrees and coursework must be conferred by institutions accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Degrees earned outside the United States must be accompanied by an evaluation from a recognized credential evaluation service verifying U.S. equivalency.

- Experience administering enterprise Microsoft technologies.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and enterprise infrastructure.
- Experience supporting Active Directory and other Microsoft enterprise platforms.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Knowledge of enterprise patch management and compliance solutions.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and implementing technology best practices.
