SALARY:

BUILDING INSPECTOR I: $31.70 - $38.62 / Hour

BUILDING INSPECTOR II: $34.87 - $42.38 / Hour

OPENING DATE: 7/28/26

CLOSING DATE: 8/11/26AT 1:00 PM (PACIFIC TIME)

THE POSITION:

Under close supervision, performs work of routine difficulty as an entry-level position to secure compliance with zoning regulations and including, but not limited to, the Municipal Building Codes, California Building Codes, California Mechanical Codes, California Plumbing Codes, and the California Electrical Codes. Work involves field inspection, plan examination, and related office work necessary to secure compliance with zoning regulations and Municipal Building Codes. Incumbents are closely supervised on a daily basis by the Building Inspector III. Performs other work as required.

ORAL APPRAISAL INTERVIEW (Weighted 100%): August 26 th , 2026 (Tentative)

An appraisal will be made of the applicant's experience, education, training, certification, knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal qualifications for the position. A minimum passing score of 70% is required.

NOTE: Admission to the Examination may be limited to those applicants who demonstrate the best combination of qualifications. Applicants possessing the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed admittance to the Examination. All pertinent information needed to determine that the applicant meets the minimum qualifications must be shown on the application, resume, and supplemental questionnaire; otherwise, the application may be rejected.
