About the Position:

Dental Specialists are responsible for providing specialized dental services that require the completion of an approved advanced specialty training program. These services involve advanced clinical expertise and specialized knowledge within their respective areas of dental practice.

Requirements

Requirements to Qualify:
Degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine conferred by a dental school approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) as required by the California Dental Practice Act -AND- Successful completion of an * Advanced Specialty Education Program in one of the following specializations approved by the American Dental Association.
* Advanced Specialty Education Programs include the following:


**Two years' professional experience in Pedodontics may be substituted for successful completion of an Advanced Specialty Education Program in Pedodontics approved by the American Dental Association.
License:
A California license to practice dentistry issued by the Dental Board of California.

If you graduated from dental school prior to 1980, please include a copy of your Radiation Safety License issued by the Dental Board of California or a certificate of compliance from an approved Board course in Radiation Safety.

To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the licensing/certification requirements and provide the hiring team supporting documentation at the time of appointment.
The required licenses and/or certificates MUST be current and unrestricted ; conditional, provisional, probationary or restricted licenses and/or certificates will NOT be accepted.

WITHHOLD INFORMATION:

PHYSICAL CLASS 2 - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
Desirable Qualifications:
Additional credit will be awarded to applicants who have specialized work experience gained after completing an Advanced Specialty Education Program and who hold a board certification, approved by the American Board, in one of the * Advanced Education Specialties listed above.

Examination Content:
This examination will consist of an evaluation of education, experience and desirable qualification based on application information weighted at 100%.

Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be placed on the eligible register.

Eligibility and Vacancy Information:
Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of (12) months. Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. We will use this list to fill vacancies in the Department of Health Services as they occur.
Available Shifts:
Appointees may be required to work any shift and at any facility, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
