Summary
Leading the Foundation's efforts in risk management, the remote Principal Global Event Security will identify and mitigate physical security threats, develop emergency response plans, and collaborate with various teams to ensure the safety of staff and community members participating in Wikimedia activities.Key responsibilitiesDeveloping and maintaining an understanding of risks facing Wikimedia volunteers globally, and defining best practices for physical securityStrengthening the Foundation's enterprise risk management approach, including policy development and executionCreating risk assessments and emergency response plans for community events, coordinating with internal and external stakeholdersRequired qualificationsSubstantial professional experience in corporate and physical security across various geographic and political contexts, especially in the global southExperience in a leadership role focused on risk management and emergency response plan executionStrong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information on geopolitical trends and their impact on the organizationDemonstrated experience in collaborating with subject-matter experts in threat modeling and contingency planningFluency in English, with additional language skills in Arabic, French, or Spanish considered a plus
