The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a creative and driven Media Specialist (Temporary) to join our Communications Team! HIRING SALARY:$25.40
This position requires approximately 30 hours per week. The assigned workload and hours may be adjusted as needed to meet agency requirements.
THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION AND THERE ARE NO BENEFITS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TEMPORARY POSITION.

Duties and Responsibilities
What You’ll Do:
- Be on Scene: Capture compelling video, audio, and photography at ceremonies, training exercises, news conferences, and more.
- Craft Engaging Content: Collaborate with our team to create dynamic content for Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram - bringing stories to life online!
- Tell Real Stories: Conduct interviews with officers and community members, uncovering the human side of law enforcement.
- Impact Transparency: Assist in managing Freedom of Information Act requests, contributing to open communication within our agency.
Minimum Qualifications
*Must be a U.S. Citizen
*Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
*Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
*Must be proficient in photography, videography, photo/video editing, and/or multimedia journalism, along with video/audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, iMovie), social media management tools, and a basic understanding of journalistic principles.
*Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft 365.
*Honorably discharged from the military (if applicable).
*Have no pending cases or criminal felony convictions (misdemeanors may require expungement).
*No THC or Marijuana use within 365 days; some drugs are automatic disqualifiers.
*No student loans in default status.
*The Nelson-Denny Reading Test, a two-phase background investigation, a credit check, a psychological examination/evaluation, a polygraph examination, an oral interview, and upon an offer of employment, a pre-employment physical examination will be required.
*Must be able to assist disaster response teams in the event of a natural disaster as necessary.
*Must possess a valid SC Driver’s license or ability to obtain one prior to hire and meet the requirements of the County’s motor vehicle policy.
