On Call Security Guard with TWIC CARD – Port of Miami
SMI Security Services is currently seeking dependable, professional, and safety-conscious individuals to join our team as Vessel Guards at the Port of Miami. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the security and integrity of vessels, crew members, cargo, and restricted port facilities. This is an on-call position with a guaranteed minimum of 32 hours per week. Candidates must be flexible and available to work varying schedules, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operational needs require. The ideal candidate will possess strong observational skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a professional demeanor in a maritime environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and secure assigned vessels while docked at the Port of Miami.
- Control access to vessels and restricted areas in accordance with client and port security requirements.
- Verify identification credentials and ensure only authorized personnel gain access.
- Conduct security patrols and maintain a visible security presence.
- Observe, detect, and report suspicious activities, security violations, or safety hazards.
- Complete detailed and accurate incident reports, activity logs, and daily reports.
- Communicate effectively with vessel crew members, port personnel, supervisors, and law enforcement when necessary.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies and security-related incidents.
- Adhere to all company policies, client requirements, and applicable maritime security regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A valid Florida Class "D" Security Officer License.
- A valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card.
- A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Reliable personal transportation to travel to and from the Port of Miami and assigned work locations.
- Ability to pass all required background screenings and employment verifications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to accept assignments and adjust to changing schedules.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb gangways and navigate vessel environments safely.
- Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout assigned shifts.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Schedule:
- On-call position with a guaranteed minimum of 32 hours per week.
- Additional hours may be available based on operational needs.
- Must be available to work flexible schedules, including:
- Days and nights.
- Weekends.
- Holidays.
- Overtime when required.
Compensation & Benefits:
