This position advises agency leadership and program areas on complex legal matters, identifies and helps mitigate legal risks, contributes to legal strategy and planning, provides counsel on regulatory compliance, and represents or supports the agency in legal proceedings. This role requires a collaborative approach to build effective relationships across departments and with external stakeholders, support sound legal decision-making, and maintain organizational accountability.Essential Functions May Include:Handle or support EGID appeals and related administrative proceedings.Handle or support tax warrant intercept matters and related legal review.Research, analyze, and interpret state and federal laws, regulations, rules, contracts, policies, and guidance affecting EGID operations.Provide legal counsel on complex EGID matters, regulatory compliance, administrative processes, and legal risk mitigation.Draft, review, and revise legal documents, correspondence, notices, memoranda, contracts, policies, procedures, and other agency materials as assigned.Present legal information clearly to agency leadership, program areas, external partners, administrative bodies, or other stakeholders.Collaborate across divisions to identify legal issues, provide practical recommendations, and support consistent implementation of legal requirements.Contribute to long-term legal strategy, planning, process improvement, and issue resolution for assigned EGID legal functions.Other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not supervise.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competency RequirementsThe Deputy General Counsel IV requires in-depth knowledge of legal principles, state and federal legislation, and program administration, with the ability to analyze complex legal matters and ensure regulatory compliance. This position demands excellent communication skills to collaborate across divisions and advise key stakeholders, along with strategic thinking to align legal recommendations with the agency's objectives. Certification in Risk Management, Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP), OSHA or Facilities Management CertificationsExperience or certification in Project Management (PMP)Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) or Mediation CertificationPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentWork is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise levels. In the course of performing job duties, employees are required to speak, stand, walk, and reach with their hands and arms. This position requires extended periods of sitting and daily use of computers and phones. Employees must be willing to complete all job-related travel associated with this position.
