Role SummaryAs a Patrol Officer for the City of Cortez, you help maintain public safety by enforcing laws and local ordinances and responding to community needs. You'll take action professionally, document incidents clearly, and communicate effectively with the public and partner agencies.Key Responsibilities IncludePatrol assigned areas and respond to calls for serviceEnforce criminal and traffic laws and City ordinancesConduct investigations, prepare accurate reports, and provide court testimony as neededUse approved equipment and tactics safely, including firearms and defensive toolsRequired Qualifications/skillsCertified Colorado Police Officer; valid Colorado driver's licenseFirst Aid/CPR certified; proficient with firearmsCertified in Intoxilizer, Radar, Nystagmus, pepper spray, and PPCTStrong oral and written communication; able to work under stress and shift schedulesGood physical condition; no felony convictionsTwo-year degree (criminal justice/related) or HS/equivalent plus training sufficient for certificationTotal RewardsThis full-time Patrol Officer role includes Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, plus Life Insurance.
