Description

Overview

The Maintenance Tech position performs various duties related to building maintenance and repair, and it will also function as a helper toHVAC technicians and electricians. The maintenance Technician is essential for completing the daily work orders received by Facility Maintenance and help to utilize staff more efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair doors, windows, door jams, lock sets, ceiling grids, and ceiling tiles

• Install/repair sheet rock walls and various flooring types

• Repair and install metal poles, bollards, and wooden and chain-link fences

• Perform preventative maintenance on air conditioning units, which includes cleaning coils and condensers, replacing filters, checking for leaks, cleaning drain lines and refrigerant, inspecting the fan motor, and oiling the parts that need attention

• Perform basic carpentry skills in preparing interior and exterior surfaces for painting, including drywall, tape and float, and texture

• Prep and finish cabinetry and countertops

• Operate tractor mower and other small equipment for grounds keeping duties as needed

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

• Non-Exempt - Full-Time

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma/GED

• Two (2) Years of Experience

Licenses and Certifications

Required

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
