OUR MISSION
The Sanitation Districts protect public health and the environment through innovative and cost-effective wastewater and solid waste management, and in doing so convert waste into resources such as recycled water, energy and recycled materials.

The Sanitation Districts is currently recruiting to fill two (2) Engineer/Engineering Associates in the Technical Services Department, Air Quality Engineering Section. These vacancies will report to our Joint Administration Office (JAO) in Whittier.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To perform professional project engineering work and coordinate progressively more complex projects in the Air Quality Section.

JOB SUMMARY

The incumbent will perform work involving air quality engineering, focusing on regulatory compliance for stationary sources at Sanitation Districts’ facilities. Specific areas of work may include: preparing regulatory permit applications (along with supporting work such as air dispersion modeling and health risk assessment preparation), regulatory correspondence, issue analysis memoranda and technical reports; developing qualification criteria, scope of work, and contractual language for retaining engineering consultants and emissions testing firms; representing the Sanitation Districts at public hearings and meetings with regulatory staff, elected officials and coalition members; supporting field operations; and performing other duties as required.

The most qualified applicants will have superior technical writing and communication skills, analytical skills and project management skills. Initial salary placement will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

RETIREMENT





COMPENSATION

Employees receive annual salary increases until reaching step 5 of the salary range and are provided with opportunities to promote. Cost of living adjustments are implemented annually in accordance with labor agreements.

13 paid holidays and one-half paid holiday depending on the employee's work schedule.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
Employees may be eligible for tuition reimbursement for approved accredited course work.

STUDENT LOAN PAYMENT REIMBURSEMENT
For some bargaining units, the Districts will provide student loan payment reimbursements for principal or interest paid by the employee on a qualified education loan incurred by the employee for the education of the employee. The annual maximum reimbursement is $5,250 and the lifetime reimbursement limit is $21,000.
