TITLE: Crossing Guard
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: To provide assistance to students when crossing roadways around the school.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: (essential functions)
- Directs children safely across streets and roadways surrounding the school.
- Displays crossing signs and markers at designated times during the day.
- May pick up trash on school grounds. Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Knowledge of general safety rules and techniques. Knowledge of laws regarding school crossings.
Skill in directing traffic.
Skill in observing the activities of others.
Skill in effectively communicating verbally in English and Spanish.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stay alert and monitor the activities of children. Ability to stand for long periods of time in various weather conditions. Bilingual required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None.
