General duties include enforcing criminal laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.Requirements Must be a U.S. Citizen.Must possess a valid Virginia operator's license at the time of employment.Must be (21) years of age by date of hire or completion of training academy.Must not have any felony convictions; a misdemeanor conviction may be grounds for dismissal but will be looked at on a case-by-case basis.Must not use tobacco products on or off duty to ensure compliance with the Virginia Heart and Lung Laws.Education/Experience: Must be a High School graduate or possess a General Education Degree Certificate or equivalent.Must be a Virginia Certified Law Enforcement Officer in good standing.Special/Additional Requirements: Subject to a complete criminal history and background investigation, drug screening, medical screening, polygraph, psychological and Lawfit physical agility assessment all with acceptable results. Will be required to work beyond a normal schedule to include rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime to meet the needs of the department. This position is designated as essential personnel.
