The Boone County Sheriff's Office, located in Columbia, MO, is looking for a Deputy SheriffThe Boone County Sheriff's Office is a top tier law enforcement organization. We are the only Sheriff's Office in Missouri that has achieved two national accreditations from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) for our law enforcement operations and from the National Institute for Jail Operations (NIJO) for our jail operations.The staff at the Sheriff's Office are dedicated to serving their community with the highest degree of professionalism and to serving the training needs of our law enforcement partners. We have been providing training to other law enforcement agencies since 2015 to help with the professional development of our law enforcement partners.As part of its commitment to providing high quality training to other law enforcement agencies, we took over operations of the local law enforcement training academy in 2024. During the same year we received funding to develop a new Regional Training Center to further support the training mission for area law enforcement. That new facility is scheduled to open in late 2025.The Sheriff's Office is committed to supporting its staff. As part of that commitment, we are developing a childcare center for our employee's and anticipate opening in 2026. Shifts include working some weekends and holidays. Must be able to work any shift at the department's discretion.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentApplicant must be 21 years of age or older.No felony convictions.Must possess a valid class A or B Missouri Peace Officer License or current enrollment in a police academyMust pass a medical examination, psychological assessment, a pre-employment drug screen, and an FBI fingerprint background checkMust meet additional minimum qualifications as stated in the current job description, which can be found at: Pay Rate: $29.08/hour.
