Please Read Full Job DescriptionSheriff's Office - Patrol DeputyDuties And Minimum QualificationsUnder general supervision, deputies perform responsible police work, crime prevention, and community service functions in furtherance of department objectives. This is a sworn/commissioned position that requires working nights, weekends, and holidays.Patrol assigned areas in marked police vehicle or on foot, answer calls for service from the public, make arrests and issue citations for violations of laws, investigate criminal violations; interview victims, suspects, and witnesses, secure, preserve and process crime scenes for physical evidence, testify in court, prepare oral and written reports of activities, respond to emergencies involving injured and/or violent persons.PHYSICAL STANDARDSExcellent physical condition and emotional stability, vision corrected to 20/20 in both eyes; normal color vision, normal hearing, ability to stand, sit, squat, and kneel for extended periods of time, ability to lift, carry, drag, pull, push persons or objects weighing, at least 160 pounds, ability to run for extended periods of time, ability to observe, recall, and report detailed descriptions of persons, places, vehicles, and events, ability to work for substantial periods of time while exposed to extreme weather conditions, irritants, and allergensSELECTION PROCESSThe selection process may include completion of a written communication skills assessment, staff interview, background investigation, medical exam, drug screen, and sheriff's interview. All fully completed applications will be reviewed. Resumes will not be accepted in place of application. The most qualified applicants will be invited for further consideration. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through the pre-employment screening process.Applicants not accepted for current patrol openings will be placed in the hiring pool for detention officers.QualificationsPossession of high school diploma or GED equivalent (college is highly desirable),be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment.Possession of valid Colorado post basic certificate of completion,possession of valid Colorado driver's license,ability to effectively read, write and speak English,ability to use tact and courtesy in dealing with the public,must be able to provide proof of eligibility for employment in the US,free of felony or serious misdemeanor convictions,history of demonstrated maturity, good judgment, and ethical behavior,must be able to lawfully possess a firearm,residency requirement – must live within 35 miles of the county line.Miscellaneous InformationPark County is an EEO employer.
