Clallam County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Sheriff's Deputy. This position is regular full-time and is located at the Clallam County Courthouse, WA. The salary range is $81,828.96 - $105,568.32 annually.

This position is represented by a union (AFSCME 1619-D), eligible for benefits, and eligible for overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Typical work includes patrolling designated areas of the County in a police patrol vehicle and/or on foot to deter and discover crime, performing on-scene investigations at crime scenes, aiding persons in trouble and rendering other public services as needed, patrolling a designated area of the County in a patrol car to enforce traffic and parking ordinances and investigate collisions, operating a radar unit to confirm speed violations, routinely checking vehicle identification against current list of stolen vehicles and identification of violator against list of outstanding arrest warrants, issuing citations to violators of state laws and County ordinances, serving warrants of arrest; arresting persons on misdemeanor and felony charges, handcuffing and searching arrested persons and securing their custody, completing necessary reports concerning alleged crimes and available evidence and witnesses, serving subpoenas, garnishments, writs of execution, writs of attachment, writs of restitution, orders of sale and various other civil processes issued by the courts, responding to reports of possible crime and taking action as the situation requires securing the scene, locating and interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects, gathering evidence and arresting suspects; completing incident and arrest reports, investigating persons suspected of being engaged in crime and ascertaining and securing evidence pertaining to alleged crime and arrest suspects for probable cause, responding to collision scenes; administering emergency first aid and summoning aid cars or other patrol units for assistance in treating the injured and controlling the scene, interviewing principals and witnesses, making general drawings of accident scenes noting details and completing a standard accident report, issuing citations or making arrests as the situation warrants, investigating and assisting drivers in stalled vehicles and pedestrians who appear to be hurt or in trouble, interviewing persons with complaints or inquiries, giving information on laws and ordinances, and attempting to resolve the problem or to direct them to proper authorities, conducting thorough investigations of reported crimes appropriate to their assignment, arranging line-ups for victims and witness identification, gathering evidence and conducting necessary searches, preparing case files detailing all aspects of an investigation and presenting it through the chain of command to a prosecuting attorney, receiving training in the safety and use of firearms and other weapons, testifying in court, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications include having a High School Diploma or G.E.D., being a US Citizen or lawful permanent resident with the ability to read, write, and speak the English language as required by RCW 41.14.100, a minimum age of 21 years at time of appointment, holding or obtaining a valid Washington State Driver's license, meeting Clallam County Civil Service, being willing to submit to, and pass a thorough background investigation to include a drug screen, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, and physical examination, and meeting the current physical standards adopted by the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission.
