This role is responsible for all aspects of library service with duties including circulation, patron assistance, programming, and public relations.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesPrepares and presents programs for children, teens, and familiesCollaborates with Youth Services and Outreach teams to present programs and events for all ages both in library and out in the communityAssists with daily Youth Services operationsProvides library outreach at community eventsAssists with the daily operations of assigned areaProvides exceptional service without exceptionWorks collaboratively on programming and strategic initiativesProvides reference and reader's advisory guidance through reference interviews and literature searchesMaintains an awareness of literature services, reference sources, professional trends, methods, and ethics, and implements this knowledge in library services and programsProvides technology assistance and computer training to patrons, and assists them with self-service equipment, technology, and facilitiesAssists in maintaining shelves and creating book displays, bulletin boards, bibliographies, and other informational materialsProcesses transactions involving cash through the Library's ILS and/or cash registerCalculates and maintains statistics and records for the departmentUses initiative and sound judgment to troubleshoot, set priorities, and make decisionsFollows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelinesPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentTwo (2) years of experience in public libraryPreferred QualificationsExperience in library programmingExperience working with youthFamiliarity with Polaris, Library IQ, Beanstack, and/or VOMOBilingual in English and SpanishThank you for your interest in the position.
