Assistant Professor: Strategic Management

San Diego State University 5500 Campanile Drive, San Diego, CA 92182, USA

Job Description:

Assistant Professor: Strategic Management

Description

Description

The Management Department in the Fowler College of Business (FCB) at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Strategic Management, starting Fall 2025. Since SDSU values high-quality scholarship and teaching, the successful candidate must exhibit competence/potential in two areas. The first entails conducting high-quality scholarship in Strategic Management, resulting in top-tier journal publications and academic thought leadership. The second involves effectively teaching the undergraduate capstone course in Strategic Management. Teaching in the core MBA Strategy course may also be expected as needed. As the university values and educates a diverse student body, including traditional and non-traditional students, some evening teaching may also be required. Since several department faculty cover strategic management and international business (IB) in their teaching and research, and given FCB’s strengths in IB (see below), candidates with credentials across both these areas are preferred. Filling this position is contingent upon state funding.

SDSU’s Fowler College of Business (FCB) is among the nation’s oldest and largest AACSB-accredited business schools. Jointly with the College of Arts & Letters, FCB offers SDSU’s International Business (IB) program, which has been ranked consistently among the top in the nation (ranked 17th in 2024 by U.S. News & World Report). FCB houses the Wendy Gillespie Center for Advancing Global Business, designated as a National Center of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education since 1989. The Management Department’s faculty includes 19 tenure-track members, as well as several full-time and part-time lecturers. Research support includes funding for approved projects through grant programs, graduate student assistants, and a budget for conference travel and other research-related expenses. See business.sdsu.edu/departments/management for additional information on FCB and the Management Department. San Diego State University is currently designated as an R2 doctoral university with high research activity, as per the Carnegie Foundation. Additional information about the university is available at http://www.sdsu.edu .
