Roadside Management Intern - Kansas City District
Description
This position will be filled at a salary no higher than the posted maximum salary.Job Location: 600 NE Colbern Road, Lee's Summit, MO 64086
Why you’ll love this position:The roadside management intern participates in landscape and vegetation management operations in the district. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.
What you’ll do: - Promote best practices of vegetation management for the district, emphasizing the killing or removal of invasive plant species.
- Manage the herbicide application program for the district as directed by the Maintenance Operations Specialist.
- Maintain records of all applications and herbicide use and performing minor repairs to equipment.
- Assist in roadside vegetation projects for grassland restoration, planting for buffers, encroachment barriers, soil stabilization and enhancement plantings.
- Assist with inspection on contracted areas for mowing, litter removal and homeless encampment.
- Conduct follow up inspections of products, materials and methods relating to roadside vegetation management to determine effectiveness of programs.
- Communicate between district office and roadside crews.
- Perform other duties assigned.
All you need for success:Minimum Qualifications - Working towards a degree in: Horticulture, Landscape Management, Agronomy, Agriculture, or related field.
- Must possess, and maintain, an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0.
Special Working Conditions: - Job requires moderate physical activity. Job requires exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions. Job requires the proper personal protective equipment use.
- The typical working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
