Hourly pay range: $21.11-$35.17

General Description and Classification Standards

The Vehicle for Hire ATL Enforcement Officer is responsible for performing inspections and enforcing the City of Atlanta ordinances designed to ensure Atlanta’s citizens and visitors have access to safe, courteous, and professional vehicle for hire services. Along with the enforcement of all parking statutes and ordinances of the State for which the Police Department is accountable.

This position is mission essential with a shift work schedule to service a 24/7 operation. Enforcement Officers are required to work year-round, including holidays and weekends. These individuals also work during inclement weather and emergencies. Traffic Enforcement Officers are required to always wear provided protective gear.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, Enforcement Officers must be able to stand for long periods of time (in two-hour intervals) on concrete in a traffic crosswalk. Enforcement Officers are regularly required to walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach and motion with hands and arms; step up and down curbs; blow a whistle; and talk or hear and visually observe vehicle and pedestrian traffic activity.

Must be able to pass pre-employment physical.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of: principles, practices and procedures of the vehicle for hire inspection criteria, local ordinances and law enforcement practices, policies and procedures as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities; how to perform operations and comply with staff plans and objectives for the expedience and effectiveness of specific duties of the City; ( this sounds like a repeat of what was said above)how to keep abreast of any changes in policy, methods, operations, equipment needs, etc. as they pertain to departmental operations and local law enforcement activities.

Skills in: listening and communicating exceptionally to effectively convey information verbally and in writing; analytical thinking with demonstrated ability for identifying, scrutinizing, improving and streamlining complex work processes.

Ability to: physically operate a variety of job related machines and office equipment; compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, technical, structural, compositional or identifiable characteristics of data, people or things; read a variety of professional, technical and administrative documentation, directions, instructions, methods and procedures; produce reports with proper format, grammar and spelling; interact with people (i.e. staff, supervisors, general public and elected officials) beyond receiving instructions; perform under minimal stress when confronted with emergencies; implement long-term goals for the department in order to promote effectiveness and efficiency.
