This position allows for up to 4 days of remote work per week.
About the OfficeMission Advancement & Accountability Division (MAAD) conducts research, evaluation, and policy analysis while using data and analytics to enhance management accountability and improve effectiveness. MAAD's work facilitates evidence-based planning and decision-making to support the State Bar's mission. The Division also supports the State Bar in fulfilling its unique role as a statewide aggregator and distributor of data about California's legal profession.
Position SummaryThe Office of Mission Advancement and Accountability Division seeks an undergraduate or graduate student to work in the San Francisco office. The position will provide the opportunity to gain experience in research, policy and statistical data analysis, and the development and design of evaluation tools and reporting frameworks on a variety of topics, including access to justice, bar exams, attorney discipline and regulation, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have a desire to learn and gain experience in research, policy, and statistical data analysis.
- Currently enrolled in a 4-yar college or university pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Solid understanding of the research process (gained through coursework or direct experience).
- Basic data analytical skills, experience using statistical software and/or Excel preferred.
- Demonstrated collaborative skills working with variety of stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills.
- Commitment to the State Bar's values of clarity, excellence, respect, and a growth mindset.
- Available to work 10 weeks full-time from May or June through early August 2025.
- Hybrid remote schedule, working 1 day per week in San Francisco office.
- Candidate must reside in CA and be able to go into the office at least once a week.

Definition Under the general supervision of MAAD leadership and analysts, works on a variety of assignments and special projects.
Examples of Essential Duties - Assist with various projects within the Mission Advancement and Accountability Division.
- Provide analytical, technical, and administrative support to the division.
- Perform data entry and research information for future use and analysis.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with others in the development of regulatory projects.
