Hourly rate: $24.00 per hour

FLSA: Non-exempt / Non-union represented

This position allows for up to 4 days of remote work per week.

About the Office

The Regulation Division focuses on proactive regulation by recommending laws and promulgating rules and policies addressing California attorneys' licensing, reporting, and registration requirements. Regulation maintains the official roll of attorneys on behalf of the California Supreme Court-the records of all attorneys licensed to practice in California. They manage the registration of law corporations and limited law partnerships and oversee the Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Compliance program and the Client Trust Account Protection Program (CTAPP).

Position Summary

The State Bar's Division of Regulation is looking to recruit three (3) college or graduate students to work in either the Los Angeles or San Francisco office. We are looking for students interested in learning about the legal profession and the regulatory requirements in place to protect the public. The successful interns will be exposed to research, program development, accounting, and the laws governing the legal profession. Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Available to work full-time for 10 weeks from mid-June through August 2024,

In addition to completing the State Bar application, include a letter of interest providing information about why you are interested in the role, and highlighting the knowledge, skills and abilities that you bring to the role. The letter of interest should be limited to one page.

Definition

Under general supervision of a member of the State Bar, interns perform a variety of assignments based on the needs of their office. Assignment areas may include conducting research, data collection and analysis, accounting, information technology, drafting written reports, summaries, or legal documents, and other tasks as assigned.
