About the OfficeThe Office of Information Technology provides the technology capabilities and solutions that enable and support the State Bar's operations and programs. IT is responsible for building, enhancing, integrating, deploying, and maintaining technology solutions which include custom software and third-party software products and platforms; network infrastructure; and information security. IT also provides end-user support that includes desktops, phones, and AV systems.
Position SummaryThe State Bar's Office of Information Technology is looking for a motivated and talented intern to join our team and assist in analyzing and improving the IT Service Desk operations. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in process optimization, data analytics, and reporting. The intern will focus on identifying operational opportunities, streamlining workflows, and creating actionable dashboards that enable better decision-making and enhanced service delivery.
Responsibilities include:
- Analyze data trends and metrics to provide actionable insights.
- Visualize data through charts, graphs, and dashboards that are easy to interpret.
- Build detailed reports with knowledge of using attributes (e.g., ticket tags, assignee names) and metrics (e.g., ticket counts, service level agreements, ticket resolution time).
- Use Report Builder tool in Zendesk Explore to customize reports for specific business needs.
- Create interactive dashboards by adding filters, arrange components, and integrate multiple reports.
- Use templates or start from scratch to design dashboards that meet organizational goals.
- Create custom reports tailored to specific business scenarios using Zendesk Explore.
- Analyze customer support metrics such as ticket resolution times, agent performance, and customer satisfaction scores.
- Share dashboards and collaborate with teams to ensure stakeholders have access to the insights they need.
Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a proactive and analytical individual with a passion for IT systems and data-driven improvements. They are currently pursuing or have recently completed a degree in IT, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field. The candidate should possess strong skills in data analysis, Excel, and visualization tools like Power BI, with an eagerness to learn and contribute to optimizing service desk performance. Excellent problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and the capacity to work both independently and in a team are essential for success in this role.
- Currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree or graduate degree.
- Available to work 10 weeks full-time from May/June through early August 2025.
- Hybrid remote schedule, working 2 days per week in San Francisco.
Candidate must reside in CA and be able to go into the office at least twice a week.

DefinitionUnder general supervision of a member of the State Bar, interns perform a variety of assignments based on the needs of their office. Assignment areas may include conducting research, data analysis and visualization, report building, dashboard customization, customer reporting development, customer support analytics, collaboration and sharing, and other tasks as assigned.
