RequirementsMOS CODES: NONE Education and Experience : A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business or Public Administration, Public Health, Environmental Science, Urban Development, Public Policy, Social Work, or a related field and two (2) years of work experience in policy research, organizational planning, and analysis.
Licenses and Certificates : Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
General PurposeUnder general supervision, this position is responsible for providing research and technical assistance. Conduct policy and program research, analyze policy, regulations, and administrative data sets, work directly with local, state, and federal partners to support policy implementation, and contribute to the design and preparation of technical assistance and related issue briefs and tools.
Typical Duties- Assisting in developing a range of high-quality written materials, including policy reports and policy memos
- Facilitating discussions on related policy topics, and collaborating with partners on strategy to advance policy priorities
- Drafting organizational comments and statements responding to federal policy actions
- Conducting state and federal policy scans. Researching legislative agenda and active participation in Federal/State Legislative Sessions.
- Working directly with state/local government agencies and community-based organizations to implement federal/state policy and/or initiatives
- Quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis
- Analysis of Environmental policy, public health policy, Urban Development, and federal/state legislative priorities
- Audits and monitors the administration of program policies, and practices. Provides documentation for defense and makes feasible recommendations when necessary.
- Gather, analyze, and evaluate data about the composition of the agencies’ service areas to ensure equity and nondiscrimination to minority and low-income populations.
- Ensure that participation of a cross-section of various social, economic, and ethnic interest groups is represented in the planning process by disseminating program information to minority media and ethnic organizations and participating in meetings in predominantly minority communities.
- Provide advisory and consultative assistance to Agency personnel in the interpretation and implementation of all policies and procedures.
