Our Veterans Cemeteries are “Always on Mission” to honor our Veterans for their service and sacrifice. The Missouri Veterans Cemetery is hiring an Administrative Support Assistant. As an Administrative Support Assistant, you will support the office operations of a Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Excellent communication and customer service skills are necessary for this position as you will serve as a liaison between the Cemetery and funeral homes and between the Cemetery and grieving families. In addition, you will determine Veteran and family member eligibility, coordinate internment schedules and other office duties, including writing correspondence, data entry, and filing.
Annual Salary: $38,092.94
Examples of Work:
Ability to evaluate military documents to determine internment eligibility in accordance with National Cemetery Administration policy
Knowledge of county, state, and federal resources for obtaining military documents
Use National Cemetery Administration’s Burial Operations Support System to schedule internments
Knowledge of Missouri Veterans Commission policies
Knowledge of Cemetery Program policies
Working knowledge of computer information systems and software
Ability to generate professional correspondences
Ability to understand and follow directions
Ability to establish and/or maintain moderately complex records; use coding and filing systems; and retrieve and compile data
Ability to review documents for accuracy and completeness
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work weekends
Qualifications:
Must demonstrate the following which may be obtained through one or more years of experience or completion of one or more years of post secondary education or some combination thereof.
Knowledge of general office practices
Ability to maintain clerical records and operate basic office equipment
Ability to interact on the telephone or in person with the public
Knowledge of the processes and procedures applicable to assigned area
Skill in the operation of office equipment
Ability to organize work assignments
Ability to provide guidance to other employees
