Job Location: This position will be located at Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, 920 Wildwood, Jefferson City, MO 65109.

As part of the Chronic Disease Epidemiology Team, you will begin building your epidemiology career by developing and implementing evaluation plans for the Missouri Comprehensive Cancer Control Program in addition to providing epidemiologic assistance to the Maternal Child Health (MCH) Team and other programs as needed. As an Associate Epidemiologist, you will have the opportunity to develop methods and tools for data collection, analyze data, generate grant deliverables, and provide technical assistance on priority public health objectives.

What you’ll do:

• Perform program evaluation tasks, including collecting and analyzing process and outcome data, as well as grant/report writing and editing.
• Update the Diabetes Profile, the Heart Disease Profile, and the Stroke Profile annually using data from various population-based health surveys.
• Assist with the development of the evaluation plan and the evaluation for the Diabetes and Heart Disease & Stroke programs.
• Coordinate meetings related to program evaluation; and disseminate the evaluation findings.
• Update Missouri Actions to Prevent Chronic Disease (MAP) performance measures.
• Present Missouri chronic disease data at local, state, and national meetings and conferences.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree in Public health or related field (transcripts required)
• Experience in public health program planning, implementation, and evaluation is preferred
• Strong statistical foundation and effective communication skills, both written and verbal Experience with programs such as Excel, Access, and Word as well as other PC desktop resources (basic familiarity with SAS or other statistical software is preferred, but not required)
• Knowledge of epidemiologic techniques, methods, and surveillance systems
• Strong oral and written communication skills
