APPLY TODAY: FIRST REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS IS ON FEBRUARY 24This position is limited to no more than 25 hours per week; 1000 hours per fiscal year, July 1 - June 30. Candidates must be enrolled in school during the course of employment.

Enrollment must be for Spring 2025 semester/quarter.

Final appointment is contingent upon a check of past employment references, passing a City-paid fingerprint check and depending on position applied for a pre-employment medical exam and a drug and alcohol-screening test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUnder close supervision, this position will assist in a variety of tasks with the Community Engagement Division. Depending upon assignment, typical duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain and organize general administrative records and tasks.
- Provide assistance in planning, organizing, and executing events, including some evening and weekends.
- Assists in performing research and supports special projects as assigned.
- Provide necessary customer service, such as answering phones, greeting members of the public, and responding to requests for information.
- Ability to safely drive a city vehicle (valid Driver’s License required).
- Supports supervisor and department staff with a variety of support duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications: - College coursework and experience related to Community Engagement, Business/Public Administration and related majors.
Education: - Must be currently enrolled in six (6) units or more towards a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the area of assignment.
- College students with Junior or Senior level coursework experience is highly desired.
Experience: - Previous internships for community programs, local government, or other fields related to the area of assignment is desirable.
Licensure or Certificate: - Possession of a valid CA Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record as determined by the city.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTSRequires the mobility and manual dexterity to work in a standard office environment, use standard office equipment; speech and hearing to communicate in person and by telephone; vision to read handwritten and printed materials and a computer screen; strength and agility to lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds; emotional and psychological capability to work alone, concentrate, or have frequent public and/or coworker contact.
