Job Location: This position will be located at 920 Wildwood Dr. Jefferson City, MO 65109 with remote work (partial home office) eligible after training is completed. Significant travel is required.

The Bureau of Diagnostic Services has an opening for a Senior Regulatory Auditor (Laboratory Specialist.) This position will work in the Bureau’s CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Regulatory Program) as a laboratory quality specialist, conducting laboratory inspections under a federal performance contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This position also is expected to survey Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) under CMS performance standards.

This position’s duties are statewide, and require regular overnight travel throughout Missouri. Occasional travel out of state for training is also required. Due to the statewide nature of the duties, telecommuting of the employee is expected (when not onsite at labs performing inspections,) although the program is administered from the central Jefferson City office. Work schedule is a 4-10's, Monday-Thursday pattern, although this could deviate occasionally as the schedule demands.

• Onsite inspection of clinical laboratories and Rural Health Clinics under federal (CMS) rules;
• Complete written Statements of Deficiencies (SoD) in accordance with federal and Bureau standards;
• Review inspection results including facility corrective action plans;
• Review new facility applications;
• Investigate complaint allegations made against regulated facilities ;
• Other duties as assigned, including inspections and investigations of other facility types regulated by the Section.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in physical science and five (5) years applicable laboratory experience, including two (2) or more years in a position that is supervisory, administrative, or consultative in nature.
• OR
• Possession of an individualized proficiency certification for Clinical Laboratory Technologists, issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; and, five or more years of professional experience as a chemist, microbiologist, medical technologist, or at or above the level of Associate Public Health Laboratory Scientist, including two or more years in a professional supervisory, administrative, educational, or consultative capacity. (Earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or the biological or chemical sciences, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required general experience at a rate of 24 earned credit hours for one year of experience.)
• Due to the nature of the position’s duties, specialized clinical laboratory experience in a healthcare setting is required for consideration of an applicant.
• All inspectors performing inspections under contract with CMS must first successfully complete mentored training and be approved by the CMS Regional Office.
