The City of Santa Fe Springs seeks applicants for the position of Fire Department Aide
. This is an hourly, at-will, non-benefited position with approximately 20-25 hours per week.
POSITION PURPOSE: Under direct supervision, enhances the operational capabilities of the Santa Fe Springs Department of Fire - Rescue by providing essential logistical, administrative, and operational support.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives direct supervision from the Assistant Fire Chief or an assigned Battalion Chief.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Held in Common: Supports the Mission of the City and its Elected and Appointed Officials.
Provides courteous and timely service to the public as the ultimate employer.
Works cooperatively with other City employees.
Exhibits integrity and displays ethical behavior.
B. Essential Job Specific Duties: Assists in the day-to-day operations of the Department of Fire-Rescue, through a variety of assignments, some part of a daily routine and others performed as the need arises.
Delivers and retrieves a variety of items from different vendors and other City departments to include vehicles, equipment and supplies.
Purchases supplies and materials for fire services operations; keeps appropriate records.
Performs fire station maintenance work including cleaning/washing walls and floors, maintaining office areas and caring for station grounds.
Assists with basic clerical duties such as answering telephones, receiving the public at the front desk, filing, copying as needed.
C. Other Job Specific Duties Assists with special projects or assignments as needed.
Assists at community events or other public functions as needed.
Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The following requirements generally demonstrate possession of the minimum requisite knowledge and ability necessary to perform the duties of the position. A typical way to obtain these would be:
- High School Diploma or an equivalent certificate or diploma recognized by the State of California.
- Some related experience preferred.
- A valid State of California driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- CPR and First Aid certifications (desired skills)
