As a Specialized Trades Supervisor in the Central Region, you will have the opportunity to build for a stronger tomorrow by applying your diverse background, education, and work experiences to leading a team of trades workers managing a variety of building, equipment, maintenance, and trades work projects for the Missouri State Capitol, Governor’s Mansion, and Jefferson State Office Building. This position is with the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC) supporting the Central Region Operations Team. - Prioritize excellent customer service for a wide and diverse network of internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to internal teams, state agencies, state officials, contractors, and the public.
- Report to the Central Region Service Level Manager and oversee approximately 15 full-time team members (including 3 supervisors), 1 part-time team member and 1 intern.
- Provide assistance in more complex projects and supervision of vocational-level employees, including hire recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and more. (Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.)
- Ensure facilities remain in compliance with agency programmatic requirements, including all OA-FMDC health and safety protocols in addition to OSHA standards.
- Conduct and record constructive monthly professional development meetings as well as performance evaluations for direct reports, and ensure direct reports are completing them for their team members.
- Project and cultivate a positive, healthy culture for and image of the organization to employees, customers, industries, and communities.
- Answer emergency calls and occasionally travel to other facilities to provide coverage and assistance.
- Oversee, coordinate, and confirm coverage at state facilities after hours and/or for emergency purposes (i.e., severe weather, snow removal, water leaks, fire, and more) to ensure facilities and grounds are properly maintained and cleared for team members and the public to conduct state business.
- Perform, delegate, supervise, and ensure quality of work relating but not limited to heavy equipment and machinery operation; grounds maintenance; building operations; electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); electronics; carpentry; concrete and masonry; welding; plumbing; and/or painting.
- Prioritize, approve, and manage purchasing requests, monthly administrative programs, time and leave usage, facility coverage, and training program compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related area of business administration, facilities management/operations, or other related fields is preferred.
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
- 3-5 years of skilled experience in trades, building maintenance, or construction.
- Ability to communicate, collaborate and lead with integrity in a manner that inspires trust and builds positive rapport with a diverse group of stakeholders and the public.
- Ability to plan, manage, and direct numerous time-sensitive projects independently or as part of a team using procedures, processes, regulations, and practices applicable to a specialized trade.
- Ability to train, mentor, coach, and develop skills of staff.
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex technical documentation to solve problems and provide several options for resolution.
- Excellent time management, organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- Excellent attendance, work ethic, attention to detail, conflict management, and critical thinking skills.
- Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of all trade areas.
- Ability to discern skill set needed for projects and whether it can be completed in-house or by a contractor.
- OSHA 10 and/or 30 preferred, but FMDC can provide if needed.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license from Missouri or adjacent state if reside outside of Missouri.

*This position is physically demanding. Examples of job duties may include prolonged periods of walking/standing/sitting/bending/driving, climbing ladders, ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, working in inclement weather and working on uneven or elevated surfaces.
