Job Description

The Agency Instructor I coordinates, prepares, and delivers Wide Area Search (WAS) Program classes throughout the U.S. and its territories. This program is part of the Homeland Security National Training Program (HSNTP) cooperative agreement. This position trains wide audiences including emergency responders from public and private agencies who are subject to coordinate and perform large-scale disaster search operations, and members of the general community who may find themselves in the impact zone of a disaster. This position will follow approved curriculum course outlines and timelines and perform all course exercises as explained in the Instructor Guides. In addition, this position, as a team member, may actively participate in the updating and revising of a course in the curriculum development process as well as review new instructional material as requested. This position will serve as a lead instructor for course deliveries and maintain records, reports and documentation of activities for each delivery led. Other duties include classroom and topic preparation, delivery of classes including demonstrating with teaching aids, completing required administrative paperwork and maintaining technical competence and skills. The work will involve traveling to remote locations to provide classroom and field instruction. This position may allow for telecommuting. Must also be capable of conducting course marketing, course coordination, and travel coordination with full-time and wage staff from a remote telework site.

This position will report to the Wide Area Search (WAS) Program Training Manager.
