Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

One year of experience as a Medical Case Worker I * - OR - A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of professional** casework experience interviewing, counseling, and assisting patients/clients with social problems.

*Applicant must hold or have held the payroll title of Medical Case Worker I ; Medical Case Worker I is defined as: u nder close direction of the professional staff, functions as a member of a multidisciplinary medical or psychiatric team, providing services to patients and clients in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation, residential, or health care facilities.

**Professional casework experience is defined as a member of a medical or psychiatric multidisciplinary team, providing services to patients and clients in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation, residential, or health care facilities.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Additional credit will be given to applicants who possess the following desirable qualifications:

Withhold information:

No withhold will be allowed. Required education needs to be fully met by the last day of filing, and clearly indicated on the application.

Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Additional Information

EXAMINATION CONTENT:

This assessment type, weighted 100%, will evaluate the training and experience you list on your application, including responses to desirable qualifications the supplemental questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system.

Applicants will need to achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the assessment to be placed on the list.

Eligibility information

The names of candidates receiving a passing score in the assessment will be placed on the Eligible Register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation. Passing this examination and being placed on the Eligible Register does not guarantee an offer of employment.

Applications will be processed on an as-received basis and promulgated to the Eligible Register accordingly.

To receive credit for your education, include a copy of your official diploma, official transcript, or letter/certificate from an accredited institution to the exam analyst Michelle Rivas, at mrivas2@dhs.lacounty.gov within (7) days of filing your application.
