Contra Costa County Department of Child Support Services is seeking a talented and motivated individual to fill a full-time Child Support Services Chief Assistant Director vacancy located in Martinez, CA. The Department has a tradition of excellence and has received multiple program awards for their hard work and outstanding achievements within the program.
The Chief Assistant Director is a member of the team that assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures, participates in strategic goal planning and monitoring/assessing, and serves as a member of the Department’s management team that builds collaborative relationships between the DCSS units, the public, and other government agencies. The successful candidate for this position will strive to continue the excellence achieved by the department.

Competencies Required:

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public or business administration or a closely related field.

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time or its equivalent senior level managerial, administrative or supervisory experience relating to planning, organizing and directing the functions of a child support collection enforcement agency.

Other requirements: All appointees to this class must be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background check.

Desirable Qualifications:
•Familiar with DCSS performance data and sources
•Project management experience
•Ability to implement and support a LCSA DCSS Strategic Plan
•Experience with implementing a performance management strategy

Selection Process

Application Filing and Evaluation: Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process. Remote Oral Board Interview: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited via email to complete a remote oral board interview. The assessment will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. In the assessment, candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the competencies and an overall passing score of 70% or higher. These may include any of the competencies listed in the above job description. (Weight 100%)

CONVICTION HISTORY

After you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). DISASTER SERVICE WORKER

All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
