Position DescriptionProvides individual, family, and group counseling services to patients to address various mental health and wellness-related issues. Conducts assessments and helps patients to problem-solve areas of need. Helps to develop coping strategies, action-based goals, and objectives for patients. May specialize in a particular area of counseling.
The employee in this classification will be an essential team member of the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) Program. This is an innovative multidisciplinary treatment team designed to deliver behavioral health treatment and supports via telemedicine services to public school students in need of mental health services.
This Licensed Mental Health Counselor is responsible for the delivery of clinical services to children and their families as part of a team working together to provide rapid assessment, triage, stabilization, and connection to community-based providers.
This clinician works to assess the child's individual needs, coordinate services with schools and community providers, and provide support during a crisis. This position will ensure the coordination between school, student, family, and community provider is collaborative, family-centered, and committed to an agreed-upon treatment plan.
Major/Essential Functions- Provide triage, assessment, and brief clinical intervention services to children and their families.
- Provide care coordination and work with local providers to help identify the most appropriate resources for students.
- Work with families and providers to support continuity of care.
- Assist in managing the day-to-day administrative operations of health promotion services.
- Consult and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of providers.
- Administer and interpret assessments and measures.
- Lead weekly evidence-based group psychological interventions with child/adolescent patients (and their caregivers) virtually (and possibly in person).
- Develop treatment plans following established standards, consistent with assessment, and in conjunction with patients and family, to include goals, intervention, necessary support, or referral services.
- Identify patients with urgent mental health conditions (e.g., suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, etc.) and make appropriate referrals as needed.
- Maintain communication (verbal and written) with caregivers, school personnel, primary care providers, etc.
- Maintain accurate and updated documentation of assessments, interventions, recommendations, and discharge plans.
- Adhere to ethical and legal requirements.
- Maintain communication with the clinical supervisor.
- Update monthly productivity reports.
- Maintain and update professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, supervision, staff meetings, workshops, and serving on special committees.
- Follow the department's policies and procedures.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsEducation: Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field.
Experience: Three (3) years of related experience required.
Current licensure in the State of Texas in one of the following:
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate (LPC - A)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) must be working towards LCSW
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - Associate (LMFT-A)
Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA)
