The Job
A re you are a former foster youth looking to make a difference
and improve the lives of other foster youth? Children and Family Services (CFS) is recruiting for
Peer and Family Assistants I (PFAs) who provide peer counseling, link foster youth to services, and assist with activities in the Independent Living Program (ILP).
ILPis designed to ensure youth exiting foster care have the skills, resources, and support necessary to transition to independent adulthood. PFAs play a critical role connecting with youth as mentors and positive role models. PFAs are also heavily involved with coordinating and hosting life skills activities, graduation celebrations, and other ILP events and functions and may provide training or present to groups of all sizes.
The resulting eligible list may be used to fill existing and future vacancies. Assignment location will be determined based on department needs. Candidates should list availability for locations on the application.

Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. Employees will be required to make provisions for transportation. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing transportation.

Minimum RequirementsMust be a former foster youth with a closed case.
No prior work experience required. Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate has excellent
interpersonal and
leadership skills, speaks comfortably in front of an audience, and works well independently while multitasking different duties. San Bernardino County former foster youth of San Bernardino are highly encouraged to apply.
Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Tagalog, Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.

Salary:
$37,585.60 - $50,419.20 Annually
