The Environmental Services Department of the City of Fort Worth is hiring an Environmental Field Operations Technician for its Solid Waste Division, Drop off Stations Section. This position provides customer service at the Drop off Stations; provides educational outreach for the Department and its Solid Waste Division; conducts field investigations and enhances awareness with the community of departmental events, solid waste collection programs, and litter clean-up events. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, proficient in computer skills and data entry, and possess strong interpersonal abilities to effectively engage with customers, contractors, and community members.
Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Must pass Drug Screen and Physical
Preferred Qualifications: - Bilingual (English Spanish)
- Map reading
- Map software experience
- Computer skills
- Smart phone operations, including taking and sending photos
- Microsoft Outlook and Excel
- Solid Waste Operations
- Customer Service experience
The Environmental Field Ops Technician job responsibilities include: - Provide in-person education about Department Events and Solid Waste Collection Programs
- Leaving education material for residents
- Interaction with customers, communicating program rules
- Conduct field investigations and promote department events to the community
- Input of daily audit data into the city software system
- Investigating and identifying contractor and resident issues related to Solid Waste

Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work
